To qualify at the Zero level, the home must be designed and built to achieve the following results:
a) provide heating and cooling at zero annual net cost.
b) produce zero on-site carbon footprints.
c) maintain zero residual indoor air toxin levels. d) consume zero on site combustible materials for heating and cooling requirements e) use EcoNet performance rated environmental materials and products.
f) display no visible evidence of any on site micro-generation systems.
EcoNet Gold
To qualify at the Gold level, the home must be designed and built to achieve the same results as the Zero level except it may use a limited amount of combustible materials, thus having a limited carbon footprint. It must, however, produce an amount of energy equal to its net energy requirements for heating and cooling.
EcoNet Silver
To qualify at the Silver level, the home must be designed to achieve the same results as the Gold level except they are permitted to consume a limited net amount of energy for heating and cooling. Silver level homes will include sustainable micro generation capability but to a lesser degree than Zero and Gold.
EcoNet Bronze
To qualify at the Bronze level, the home must be designed to achieve the same results as the Silver level except they are permitted to consume a slightly greater net amount of energy for heating and cooling. Bronze level homes may or may not include sustainable micro generation capability to offset heating and cooling energy requirements but will include all other provisions of the Silver level.
