All EcoNet homes are guaranteed not to exceed their projected energy cost goals. This guarantee is backed by an irrevocable trust administered by a third party (EcoNet) for the benefit of the original owner of the home.
EcoNet Trust: How it Works
When your builder completes your home they will, from their profit, place in an irrevocable trust a sum equal to 1.5% of the contract price of your home. Your home will be equipped with sophisticated energy monitors and for a period of ten years, your home’s energy output and consumption will be monitored by a third party monitoring company. Your home’s energy use will be analyzed on an annual basis and if it used more energy for heating and cooling than projected, you will be reimbursed your extra costs from the trust.
